How ExecutESG Calculates AI Relevance Scores for B2B News

Every day, hundreds of sustainability news stories, policy announcements, and corporate press releases are published. For European SMEs and compliance officers, sifting through the noise to find actionable B2B intelligence is a major time sink.

At ExecutESG, our Daily and Weekly Sustainability Digests use an AI-Driven Impact Index to score every article from 1.0 to 10.0.

The 4 Criteria Behind the ExecutESG Relevance Score

Our AI curation engine evaluates incoming news against 4 core weighted criteria tailored specifically for non-listed European SMEs and value chain suppliers:

1. Official Regulatory & Standard Impact (Weight: 30%)

  • Does this event involve official EU or national legislation (e.g., EFRAG, VSME standard, CSRD, CSDDD, Omnibus directives)?
  • Articles covering statutory reporting standards receive the highest priority.

2. Supply Chain & Buyer Mandate Relevance (Weight: 30%)

  • Will tier-1 corporate buyers demand this data from their SME suppliers (e.g., Scope 1–3 emissions data, EcoVadis audits)?
  • High scores are given to news affecting B2B procurement contract requirements.

3. Financial & Audit Risk (Weight: 20%)

  • Does this trend impact SME financing, access to green capital, or auditor compliance risks?

4. SME Actionability (Weight: 20%)

  • Can an SME take immediate operational or reporting action based on this intelligence?
  • Consumer green lifestyle tips (e.g. personal recycling tips) are heavily deprioritized (score < 4.0).

Understanding the Scores

  • 9.0 – 10.0 (Critical): Immediate regulatory shift or major supply chain mandate affecting SME operations.
  • 7.5 – 8.9 (High Impact): Key market, technological, or reporting framework updates.
  • 5.0 – 7.4 (Moderate): Relevant industry trends or regional policy developments.
  • Below 5.0 (Filtered): General consumer news — excluded from ExecutESG digests.

By filtering and scoring every story, ExecutESG ensures that European business leaders spend less than 3 minutes receiving high-value sustainability intelligence.
